Experience the Best of HVAR IN GROMIN DOLAC

We present to you Vines & Stars glamping in the village of Gromin Dolac near the sea on the island of Hvar...

The island of Hvar has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Archeologists have found traces of life here on the island that date back to the year 3500 BC. The Culture of Hvar is a Neolithic culture in the eastern Adriatic coast. This prehistoric culture was named Hvar culture (3500-2500 BC) according to the findings in the Grapčeva cave.

Certain archeological findings from Grapčeva cave can be seen as a part of the Archaeological Collection (Hvar Heritage Museum) on Hvar Fortress (Fortica or Španjola) in the town of Hvar. The Grapčeva cave consists of two chambers and its most beautiful decorations are stalagmites and stalactites.

Vines and Stars Glamping is located in our small village of Gromin Dolac on the south side of the island of Hvar. To reach our village you have to travel through the tunnel Pitve near Zavala.

Gromin Dolac is located east of the village of Zavala, around a hundred meters above sea level. The village consists of stone houses built back in the 17th century.

The most prominent house in our village is the one of the Obradić family (today Machiedo family), located in the center of the village. The house is a two-story stone tower built for defensive purposes. It is one of the rare well-preserved towers on the island of Hvar.

Not many people live in Gromin Dolac. In the 1950's, the village counted up to 170 inhabitants, and according to the census of 2001, it had only 4! There may be a few more now but still not many people live hear year round. Naturally though, that number multiplies during the summer. However, one cannot say that it is ever crowded in Gromin Dolac!

People who live here are mostly engaged in agriculture and tourism. Zavala is the only close village. The nearest place where you can find a supermarket, post office, doctor’s office, bank and all other benefits of normal civilization is the town of Jelsa, located approximately 12 kilometers away from Gromin Dolac. The Stari Grad harbor is 22 kilometers away, and the world famous town of Hvar is approximately 40 kilometers away (45 mins by car).

If you don't intend to arrive by your own car, we can help you arrange for a transfer or a car rental before or after your arrival. If you plan to arrive during the peak season (June through August) we suggest you make all the reservations before you arrive to Hvar.

The nature that surrounds Gromin Dolac is magnificent. You will see breathtaking sunsets, and in the air you will smell a fragrant blend of Mediterranean herbs. The beaches are gentle, filled with pebbles, and surrounded by crystal clear sea.

We hope this helps you know more about Gromin Dolac but the only way to truly understand is to come and see for yourself!
